Welcome to LB Williams
Elementary! We are home to 470
"Star" students which is the largest of the three
elementary schools in the Mitchell School District with each grade
level having four sections. Please read the following highlights of
what LB Williams Elementary School has to offer your family. |

LB
Williams School is a Reading First School. As a Reading First School,
all teachers are specifically trained to provide specific and detailed
reading strategies for all students Kindergarten through Third grade.
The Dibel Assessment is the measurement used to monitor specific reading
progress for each child three times throughout the school year.
Progress monitoring occurs throughout the year for those students who are
assessed as strategic and intensive. All strategic and intensive
students are provided with additional intervention time to improve their
reading skills.

Williams School is a Title I school. Students who qualify for extra
assistance in Math and Reading in grades Kindergarten throughThird grade are
considered Title I students. These students receive additional
intervention time throughout the school day. Reading Recovery is also
a Title I service that is provided for only First Grade students that
qualify.

LB
Williams School provides a Tutoring program for all students in grades three
through five. Students are allowed to receive tutoring before school
or after school for 45 - 60 minutes. Students who are involved with
the tutoring program are students that have been referred to the program by
an analysis of previous testing information and/or teacher referral.

- Each day students are involved with the
Successmaker program for thirty minutes which enhances reading and math skills.

- All Kindergarten though Fifth grade classrooms have SmartBoard Technologies that
provide teachers more educational tools to provide the best possible academic
experience.

- Throughout the week, students are involved
with Music and Physical Education twice a week for thirty minute periods.
|
- Art is offered once a week for forty minutes.
|
- All classes in grades
third through fifth grade choose student representatives each quarter for the LB Williams Student
Council.

Fourth and Fifth Grade students are
selected as STAR Ambassadors. Fifth Grade students are chosen as
crossing guards.

LB
Williams School provides summer school for those students that
qualify. The summer program typically is held for five weeks.
