 Welcome to LB Williams Elementary!

Dear Friends of LB Williams School:
Welcome to LB Williams Elementary!  We are home to 470 "Star" students which is the largest of the three elementary schools in the Mitchell School District with each grade level having four sections.   Please read the following highlights of what LB Williams Elementary School has to offer your family.
  • LB Williams School is a Reading First School.  As a Reading First School, all teachers are specifically trained to provide specific and detailed reading strategies for all students Kindergarten through Third grade.  The Dibel Assessment is the measurement used to monitor specific reading progress for each child three times throughout the school year.  Progress monitoring occurs throughout the year for those students who are assessed as strategic and intensive.  All strategic and intensive students are provided with additional intervention time to improve their reading skills.

  • LB Williams School is a Title I school.  Students who qualify for extra assistance in Math and Reading in grades Kindergarten throughThird grade are considered Title I students.  These students receive additional intervention time throughout the school day.  Reading Recovery is also a Title I service that is provided for only First Grade students that qualify.
  • LB Williams School provides a Tutoring program for all students in grades three through five.  Students are allowed to receive tutoring before school or after school for 45 - 60 minutes.  Students who are involved with the tutoring program are students that have been referred to the program by an analysis of previous testing information and/or teacher referral.
  • Each day students are involved with the Successmaker program for thirty minutes which enhances reading and math skills.
  • All Kindergarten though Fifth grade classrooms have SmartBoard Technologies that provide teachers more educational tools to provide the best possible academic experience.
  • Throughout the week, students are involved with Music and Physical Education twice a week for thirty minute periods.
  • Art is offered once a week for forty minutes.
  • All classes in grades third through fifth grade choose student representatives each quarter for the LB Williams Student Council.
  • Fourth and Fifth Grade students are selected as STAR Ambassadors. Fifth Grade students are chosen as crossing guards.
  • LB Williams School provides summer school for those students that qualify.  The summer program typically is held for five weeks.

  • Multiage Classrooms are available in 1st/2nd grade and 3rd/4th grade.

  • Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) meets the 2nd Monday of each month.  The PTO has been instrumental in providing many financial resources to LB Williams School.  Many fundraisers are held throughout the year by this parent group with their largest fundraiser being the LB Williams Carnival and Raffle Ticket Sales.  Their fundraising allows all grades to experience field trips at the end of the school year.

We look forward to meeting you! Please contact me at 995-3090 if you would like to visit in more detail about the educational opportunities at LB Williams School!

Miss Roth - LB Williams Elementary Principal
